In the Community
The LSLC is proud to support lifelong learning by offering science programs to interested community
groups. Our connections with scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the
University of Rochester River Campus allow us to develop programs on just about any topic that might
interest you.
You can expect an informative and engaging science session that mixes information with hands-on
experiences. We can transform just about any location into a science lab. Contact Shaw-Ree Chen at
(585) 275-0252 about developing a program for your group. We typically charge about $200 to cover
the cost of supplies, but depending on what kind of program you're interested in, and your particular
situation, cost is negotiable.
Examples of community programs (1-2 hours long)
- HIV vaccine development
- DNA fingerprinting
- Medical Mystery: What goes into a diagnosis?
- Cholera outbreak
- Stem Cells, the new frontier
